Home2Home Enters Indonesian Homestay Market
Jakarta. Online-based home-sharing platform Home2Home officially launched its smartphone application for Indonesia at Raffles Hotel in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Saturday (10/03).
The launch was attended by of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Eddy Ganefo, along with representatives of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Education and Culture.
The company, founded in Hong Kong in 2016, has entered the Southeast Asian market via Malaysia and it is currently expanding to Indonesia.
Home2Home is part of the Bigg Data Group – a financial technology firm – and it touts an environmentally friendly concept of home-sharing.
"We want to be the first to unite people under one goal, that is to create an environmentally conscious app within the homestay market. That's what makes Home2Home different from the rest," said Datin Magdalene, managing director of Home2Home.
The multi-million-dollar homestay market has seen more than 2 million listings on one app alone as increasingly more travelers opt for this due to the convenience and lower cost, while also allowing them to stay with local families and learning about the culture.
"I fully support this app; anything that can help bolster domestic and international tourism and the economies around it. I'm very sure it will find success in Indonesia as it has in other countries," Eddy of Kadin said in his speech during the launch.
