Jakarta Bibliophiles Rejoice: Drive Books, Not Cars Book Sale Is Back
Jakarta. The Drive Books, Not Cars charity book sale returns this weekend to delight Jakarta bibliophiles and raise funds for underprivileged students.
Created by BeritaSatu Media's Count Me In volunteering program, Drive Books, Not Cars is back for its third and possibly last installment on Saturday and Sunday at Post Pasar Santa, in South Jakarta.
From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., visitors will find hundreds of pre-loved English books from various genres waiting to be snatched up and taken home for the low prices of Rp 15,000 to Rp 50,000 ($1-$3.50). All the proceeds will go to Taman Bacaan Pelangi, a non-profit organization that aims to build libraries and promote reading amongst children in remote corners of Indonesia.
Previous editions of the book sale took place at Fx Plaza in South Jakarta and was met with swooping success, with last year's event raising Rp 24 million for two different charities.
