Indonesia to Host International Ballet Star Gala in Jakarta This Weekend
Jakarta. Indonesia will host the International Ballet Star Gala at Teater Besar in Taman Ismail Marzuki in Cikini, South Jakarta, on Saturday (04/02).
The annual event, which for the first time was held in 2007, features principal dancers of the top international dance companies.
Juliana Tanjo from the Indonesia Dance Society, the organizer of the event, said the two-hour gala will kick off at 7.30 p.m. with classical ballets, such as "Swan Lake," "Don Quixote" and "Giselle."
"This international event should not to be missed by ballet lovers," she told the Investor Daily.
Members of the audience will have a chance to meet the dancers and participate in a masterclass with ballerina Lorena Feijoo, the principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet company, whose major roles include Aurora in "The Sleeping Beauty," Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" and Sugar Plum Fairy in "The Nutcracker."
Tickets can be purchased online. Prices vary from Rp 450,000 ($34) to Rp 1,550,000 per ticket.
