Masha and the Bear On Ice Show Skates Into Tangerang Next Month
Jakarta. Masha and the Bear On Ice is set to entertain ice-skating enthusiasts and fans of the children TV series at the Indonesia Convention and Exhibition center in Bumi Serpong Damai, Tangerang, on Aug. 19.
Organized by MyWill Entertainment, the show will feature characters and stories from the Russian TV series – based on a children’s folk story of the same name.
Masha and the Bear is the story of an orphaned little girl named Masha and a retired circus bear who adopted her.
First released on television in 2009, the series has been translated into 25 languages and broadcast in more than 100 countries including Indonesia.
Here, the series has been on free-to-air channel ANTV since April 2013.
In 2015, Comunique from Slovakia acquired a license to create an ice show called Masha and the Bear On Ice.
The show was performed for the first time in 2015 in Kosice, Slovakia, and has since gone on a world tour that has taken it to Serbia, Croatia and Dubai among other countries.
The performance in Tangerang will feature 55 skaters, dancers and acrobats in colorful costumes.
The company will also bring their own decorations, sound systems and ice rink equipment.
Willy Hidayat, chief executive of promoter MyWill Entertainment, said during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (18/07), that the show took months of complicated preparations, since the group insists on flying in all their equipment all the way from Slovakia.
"It takes seven huge containers to transport all their gear. It’s going to be an epic show," Willy said.
Due to the complicated preparations, Willy said they had to postpone the show from June 29 to July 1.
"We had to change the date of the performance due to technical problems. We just want to make sure that we get everything right," he said.
"We've also had to move the venue," he said. "Ice skating shows are usually held at Istora Senayan, but this is now impossible since it's going to be used for the Asian Games."
Marsha and the Bear On Ice will be an all-ages show with some attractions reserved for children.
Some of them will get up on stage to join a unique ride surrounded by characters from Masha and the Bear.
"We will put some of the children on stage. They will get to ride around the ice with the Masha and the Bear characters. It's going to be fun," Willy said.
Masha and the Bear On Ice will take place on Sunday, Aug. 19, at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten. There will be three shows on the day.
The first show will start at 10 a.m., the second at 1:30 p.m. and the last one at 5 p.m. Tickets range from Rp 250,000 ($17) to Rp 1.5 million.
