Jakarta. Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi praised media conglomerate Elang Mahkota Teknologi's subsidiary Kreatif Media Karya, or KMK, on Wednesday (03/05) for obtaining the broadcasting rights to show US National Basketball Association games on Indonesian television.

The new deal provides basketball fans across the archipelago with access to watch 240 NBA games this season on local television stations Indosiar and O-Channel and web streaming platforms Vidio.com and Bola.com.

"We thank KMK for bringing the NBA to Indonesia. We hope there will be more sports to come," Imam said in Jakarta.

"I believe sports should be supported by all parties, not just the government, to create more elite athletes in the future," he added.

KMK will allow viewing access to 170 NBA games through its streaming media platform Vidio.com.

"We expect people to grow more fond of basketball," KMK chief executive Adi Sariaatmadja said.

Meanwhile, KMK marketing director Prami Rachmiadi said that in addition to broadcasting live NBA games, the company will also air related stories on exclusive content.
