Bukalapak to Open Research Center in Bandung, Explore Artificial Intelligence
Jakarta. Bukalapak, an e-commerce marketplace platform, plans to establish a research and development center in Bandung, West Java, to explore artificial intelligence, machine learning and the so-called Internet of Things technology.
Bukalapak founder and chief executive Achmad Zaky told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday (10//01) that the center is intended to improve skills of local talents and the platform's own services.
He said it is expected to contribute to the new technologies sector in the country and it is going to be operational in mid-2018.
Bandung was chosen as it has many campuses that specialize in technology, including Zaky's own alma mater, the Bandung Institute of Technology.
Bukalapak seeks to employ about 200 local engineers at the center to boost the application of innovative technologies in the e-commerce industry.
