CIMB Niaga Teams Up With Sompo Insurance Indonesia to Offer Products for Japanese Customers
Jakarta. Bank CIMB Niaga, Indonesia's fifth biggest bank by assets, signed a partnership agreement with Sompo Insurance Indonesia, a local unit of Japanese insurer Sompo Holdings, to serve Japanese customers for products and services in Indonesia.
This five-year partnership is extends an initial agreement signed in August last year.
Sompo Insurance Indonesia will offer its products and services for Japanese customers through CIMB Niaga Japan desk to help provide services for Japanese clients.
The partnership agreement was signed by CIMB Niaga business banking director Rahardja Alimhamzah and Sompo Insurance vice president director Tatsuya Kuroki.
"This cooperation is a strategic step for CIMB Niaga and Sompo Insurance as Sompo is one of the leading Japanese insurance companies that serves customers from Japan and also in Southeast Asia," Rahardja said in a statement on Wednesday (27/09).
Through the partnership, Sompo Insurance's customers can enjoy various services and facilities from CIMB Niaga that suit their needs, including an e-tax payment system.
Rahardja said through an online system called BizChannel@CIMB, part of the bank's corporate Internet banking platform, customers will be able to pay their due taxes, which is more time efficient and safe. Meanwhile, Japanese customers can also enjoy Sompo Insurance products and services through CIMB Niaga Japan desk.
"We hope this cooperation is a mutually beneficial cooperation for both parties. CIMB Niaga's Japanese customers can choose various Sompo Insurance products, such as fire insurance, vehicle insurance, all risk property insurance and earthquake insurance through CIMB Niaga Japan Desk at all of its branch offices and outlets," Kuroki said.
He said that Sompo Insurance also plans to implement worksite marketing, a concept where employees buy products or services from their workplace or office, that can increase customer engagement especially for CIMB Niaga's Japanese customers.
CIMB Niaga Japan Desk has been established since January 2011 and now serves more than 315 Japanese corporate customers in Indonesia and distributes 1,800 credit cards and savings accounts for Japanese expatriates.
CIMB Niaga Japan Desk also has established a strategic alliance with a number of regional banks in Japan, including Shizuoka Bank, Hachijuni Bank, Chiba Bank and Hokkoku Bank.
