Jakarta. The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association, or Gaikindo, opened its annual international commercial vehicle show at the Jakarta Convention Center on Thursday (01/03).
The Gaikindo Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (Giicomvec), which will run until Sunday, for the first time showcases business-to-business commercial vehicles. Among its 32 exhibitors are Daihatsu, Hino, Isuzu, Iveco, Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB), Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi and Suzuki.
Local car makers, such as Adiputro, Laksana, Shinmei, Sugity Creatives and Trubo Engineering, will also participate in the event.
"As a government representative, I congratulate and give my highest appreciation to Gaikindo for creating this B2B exhibition," Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto said during the opening ceremony.
The event, according to Gaikindo, is a response to the 45 percent growth in vehicle sales last year.
Giicomvec is expected to contribute 20 percent to this year's growth.
The expo is also intended to create business opportunities for Indonesian manufacturers by connecting them with international distributors.
"We expect about 3,000 visitors from sectors such as transportation, logistics, construction and energy," Gaikindo said in a statement.
The association will also hold talk shows, seminars and vehicle demonstrations during the four-day event.
