Sequis Tower Construction Proceeding at Full Speed, Top-Off in May
Jakarta. Construction of Sequis Tower, a new office development in Jakarta's Sudirman Central Business District, has picked up pace and its topping-off ceremony is expected to take place in May this year, according to an official statement released on Wednesday (22/02).
The 39-story skyscraper will feature column-free floor plates, floor load capacity of 500 kilograms per square-meter, a raised floor system that allows tenants to design the layout according to their needs, and parking space for up to 1,300 cars. Sequis Tower is being built by real estate developer Farpoint, a subsidiary of Gunung Sewu Group, which has partnered with American architect Kohn Pederson Fox, local contractor Total Bangun Persada, and United States-based construction services company Turner.
"We collaborate with local designers and contractors to provide the best international construction practices with local talent. [...] Turner set up an online project management system, where everybody involved in the development will have the same platform for collaboration and risk management," Turner chief representative officer Gary Wu said.
The tower will be an example of a modern property built according to international standards, and which represents today's professional lifestyle designed with environmentally conscious concept.
In terms of being eco-friendly, Farpoint aims to attain a platinum rating by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) with Sequis Tower. The building's use of a double-glazed glass curtain wall will reduce heat inside the building by minimizing solar radiation levels, thus reducing air-conditioner use.
"Achieving LEED platinum for us is part of showing our commitment to our surroundings, it is a way for us to give back to the environment," Farpoint head of project management, Mulyadi Janto, said.
"We want to set example and be different as we believe we are not only building a property, but beyond that, the benefits they offer are far from monetary aspect. That is why we aim to achieve LEED platinum, as they put a lot of care on people [comfort and health] and for our future generation."
The Sequis Tower project received the Mipim Award for Best Future Project Asia Pacific in 2013.
The building is expected to be ready for occupation by July 2018.
