Soekarno Hatta Latest Terminal to Open in May for Garuda's Domestic Flight
Jakarta. State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II expects part of its newest terminal at Soekarno-Hatta International to start operations next month to generate more income for the company this year, a top executive confirmed on Thursday (14/04).
The facility, dubbed Terminal 3 Ultimate, will help Angkasa Pura II reach Rp 7.5 trillion ($568 million) in revenue this year, almost a third higher than Rp 5.7 trillion it made in 2015.
"We hope at the end of May, the airport can be used for Garuda's domestic flights," Budi Karya Sumadi, Angkasa Pura II president director, said. According to Budi, the company has completed 96 percent of the terminal construction.
Full functionality of the terminal, including premises for international flights, will be completed by March 2017, Budi said. By then it will be able to accommodate 25 million passengers per year.
Terminal 3 Ultimate will be home to all international flights and flagship carrier Garuda Indonesia. Also, it will host a station for an airport railway line to connect the airport to Jakarta.
AP II and Jakarta administration are also mulling a plan to connect the airport with an additional Light Rail Transit system.
