Special Packages to Promote Tourism Ahead of IMF and World Bank Meetings in Bali
Jakarta. Indonesia is going to offer several tourism packages ahead of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank meetings in Bali, which are scheduled for October 2018.
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said in a statement on Thursday (04/05) that the international event will also be used to promote Indonesia.
"This event will be a great opportunity to promote our tourism, because many important people will gather there," he said.
Indonesia expects more than 15,000 delegates, including finance ministers, business executives, civil society representatives, academics and reporters to attend the meetings.
According to the statement, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has prepared several offers, including One Day Cruise in Bali and Bali Holiday Packages, to be advertised on popular travel sites such as TripAdvisor.
Apart from the already famous island, the ministry will also introduce other destinations such as Lombok, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, the iconic Borobudur temple in Central Java, Tana Toraja in South Sulawesi and Toba Lake in North Sumatera.
Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and the tourism minister have held the preparatory meeting to discuss the event.
The government is going to renovate several facilities and develop the island' infrastructure ahead of the international gathering — an overpass near Ngurah Rai Monument and the Ubung Terminal in Depasar will be built to ease the traffic.
