Garuda Indonesia Adds Another Jakarta-Perth Flight
Jakarta. Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia announced on Friday (02/02) it will add another flight on its Jakarta-Perth route, bumping up the flight frequency to five return flights a week.
The new flight is scheduled every Friday, departing from Jakarta at 10.25 a.m. and arriving in Perth at 4 p.m.
The return flight will leave from Perth at 5.40 p.m. and arrive in Jakarta at 9.35 p.m.
Garuda said in a statement the extra flight is provided to respond to market demand and to support the Tourism Ministry's campaign to promote 10 priority tourist destinations in Indonesia including the Thousand Islands, a mini archipelago off the coast of Jakarta.
"Australia is one of our emerging markets and contributes significantly to Garuda Indonesia's revenue. A lot of Indonesians and Australians travel between Jakarta and Perth for business, leisure, education and medical check-ups," Garuda Indonesia cargo director Sigit Muhartono said.
Garuda serves a total of 35 flights every week between Indonesia and Australia. Denpasar-Melbourne is its busiest route with eight return flights every week.
