Jakarta. National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia appointed Triyanto Moeharsono as its operations director, replacing Novianto Herupratomo. The carrier also appointed I Wayan Susena as technical and maintenance director, replacing Iwan Juniarto, the company said in a statement on Monday (15/05).

"The new directors have passed a fit and proper test by the Ministry of Transportation and have secured an approval from the State Enterprises Ministry," Garuda Indonesia vice president Benny S. Butarbutar said.

Benny said the appointments are part of the company's efforts to strengthen its operations and engineering capacity, and to maximize its compliance with the Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR).

The carrier also hopes that the appointments will improve its financial performance to address the challenges of the increasingly competitive airline industry.

Earlier, I Wayan earlier was serving as base operations director at Garuda Indonesia's subsidiary Garuda Maintenance Facilities (GMF Aero Asia), while Triyanto was previously the company's vice president for operations planning and control.

Recently, Garuda appointed its new president director, Pahala Nugraha Mansury, who replaced Arif Wibowo. Prior to the appointment Pahala was serving as chief financial officer at state-owned Bank Mandiri.
