Anti-Corruption Forum Compiles Antigraft Proposals for Jokowi
Jakarta. The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Forum, or IACF5, compiled a set of 16 proposals on law enforcement and public service reform — including a revised electoral system which will discourage instances of "money politics" — for President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, presented during a national anti-corruption conference in Jakarta on Thursday (01/12).
According to a press statement, the forum's members had met at Bina Nusantara University on Nov. 28-30 to hash out the proposals.
According to IACF5, the government should come up with a national strategy to bind together all anti-graft initiatives, strengthen law enforcement and encourage the public to participate directly in the fight against corruption.
The government is also advised to clear public service institutions of graft to give peace of mind to investors, design a better system to handle complaints and introduce cashless payment for all licensing services.
Aside from an electoral system free of money politics, the forum also prescribes more transparency in campaign funding.
