Antigraft Agency Arrests Jombang District Head on Suspicions of Bribery
Jakarta. Indonesia's antigraft investigators have arrested the district head of Jombang in East Java on Saturday (03/02) on suspicions of bribery and brought him to Jakarta to be interrogated, state news agency Antara reported.
Febri Diansyah, a spokesman from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed two men, including the leader of the local Jombang administration, were arrested during a raid on Saturday night.
"We have a suspicion the men have received [bribe] money," Febri said, as quoted by Suara Pembaruan.
The Jombang district head, Nyono Suharli, has so far not been officially charged.
KPK investigators on Saturday raided Nyono's home and several government offices including his, Antara said.
The investigators also interrogated several other government officials in Jombang on the same day.
Nyono and his assistant arrived at KPK headquarters in South Jakarta late on Saturday night for more interrogation.
