Hanura Politician Miryam Haryani on Wanted List
Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission, or KPK, has asked the National Police to put lawmaker Miryam S. Haryani on a "wanted" list, a spokesman said on Thursday (27/04).
"KPK has sent a letter to the National Police and the NCB [National Central Bureau] for Indonesia regarding Miryam," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said at his office in South Jakarta.
He said the letter was sent after Miryam several times failed to meet the KPK summons.
"The suspect was called for questioning, but did not show up. We have rescheduled it after her lawyer came to inform us that she was ill; it was proven with a medical certificate from a doctor. Until now, she hasn't arrived," Febri said.
KPK searched Miryam's house in Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, however, the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) politician was not there. Febri said, however, that she is still in Indonesia.
"Miryam is still in Indonesia, she is banned from going overseas," Febri said, as quoted by the state news agency Antara.
Aga Khan, Miryam's lawyer said the same."She is still in Indonesia, I guarantee. KPK should have asked me about this matter," he said.
Febri said that in Miryam's case the antigraft agency cooperates with the police.
"The police will hand her over to KPK once she is arrested, we are working together," he said.
Miryam has been accused of giving false testimony in the high-profile corruption case regarding the e-KTP project that was aimed to provide biometric ID cards to all Indonesians aged 17 years and older.
She said that several KPK officers, including prominent investigator Novel Baswedan, forced her to sign an investigation report at the Jakarta Anti-Corruption Court on March 23.
The e-KTP project was mothballed in October 2015 following a series of problems, including a late start, technical glitches and officials demanding payments from residents to provide the ostensibly free service. KPK then found a $ 172.7 million loss in the the $ 443 million project.
