Lawmakers Launch Corruption-Free 'Zone of Integrity'
Jakarta. Indonesia's House of Representatives has launched a 'Zone of Integrity' at the legislative complex in Senayan, South Jakarta, its speaker announced on Monday.
The initiative is a joint operation with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Ministry for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
House Speaker Setya Novanto said the move was aimed at creating a corruption-free zone and offering better services to the public.
BPK head Harry Azhar Aziz welcomed the initiative, saying it proved the House was serious about eradicating corruption.
With many lawmakers being targeted in massive graft scandals throughout the years, the House has long been seen as one of the country's least trustworthy institutions.
