Jakarta. Indonesia's only representative in BMX Toni Syarifudin is ready to race at Deodoro Olympic Park, Rio de Janeiro, on Thursday (18/08) local time.

Toni has been training in San Diego, California, for two weeks which has raised his confidence for similar tracks he'll face in Rio, he said.

"Training in the US made me feel more confident because the track was the same as Rio's, it's even bigger and more difficult," Toni said in a statement received by the Jakarta Globe on Wednesday.

He trained in San Diego alongside Olympic BMX racers from Australia, Ecuador and the US.

"These kind of tracks [of Rio and San Diego] are normal abroad, but I don't see it in Indonesia so I don't get used to it," he said.

Contingent leader Raja Sapta Oktohari said cycling facilities should be prioritized to enhance performance at the games.

"If we want to get higher level we should begin to think far ahead. This kind of track should be provided in Indonesia as our best track, the one in Banyuwangi is far below standard," Raja said.

BMX in Rio will start on Wednesday, with finals on Friday.
