Robin Manulang Wins Green Jersey in Tour de Makassar
Jakarta. Robin Manulang was the best performing cyclist for the Indonesian team at the 2016 Tour de Makassar which closed on Sunday (13/11) after three stages and 505 kilometers.
Robin finished second in the second stage race on Saturday. He won the points competition's green jersey in the tour, finishing 13 points clear on top of the points table.
Robin also won second place in the King of the Mountain category, securing 40 extra points.
"I owe the green jersey to my team. We race well together, without teamwork the jersey wouldn't be mine," Robin said.
The Indonesian team also includes Eko Bayu Nurhidayat, Arin Riswana, Fatahillah and Bernard Van Aert.
Still, team coach Robby Yahya said the result in Makassar was not good enough, as the team had performed poorly in training.
"We have to improve our individual training program so we can get better results in the long term," the coach said.
Aiman Cahyadi from PGN Indonesia won the second stage of the tour and Vietnam's Phan Hoang Thai the third stage.
The winner of the yellow jersey and the overall winner of the tour was Frenchman Peter Pouly.
Peter's Singha Infinite teammate Loic Desriac came second, while KFC's Agung Alisahbana finished third overall.
