Sukabumi Bans Valentine's Day Celebration in Night Clubs, Hotels
Sukabumi. Sukabumi in West Java has banned Valentine's Day celebrations in night clubs and hotels to avoid what its Public Order Agency, known as Satpol PP, claimed as "immoral actions."
The agency's law enforcement division head Sudrajat said "immoral actions" include adultery, prostitution and drug-taking.
“We've ordered night clubs and hotels not to put up Valentine's Day decorations," Sudrajat told state news agency Antara on Sunday (12/02).
The agency, the police and military officers may raid night clubs, hotels and rented rooms, known as kos, to make sure everyone complies to the order.
Sudrajat said Valentine's Day should not be celebrated since it is not part of the country's traditions.
Separately, Sukabumi Education Agency head Dudy Fathul Jawad said he has also ordered education institutions in the district — from elementary to senior high schools – to refrain from celebrating Valentine's Day.
