Indonesia Prepares for New US Foreign Policy
Jakarta. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said Indonesia is adopting a wait-and-see approach in relation to the foreign policy objectives of United States President-elect Donald Trump's administration.
"However, there are several steps until he [Trump] is inaugurated in January," Retno said in Jakarta on Friday (11/11).
"I don't think Indonesia is the only country waiting. The global community is also waiting to see how the new US government formulates its policies in relation to other countries.
"So, we will wait and see."
The minister said the future direction of the US government will be closely followed, especially by countries that have established partnerships with the United States.
She said the ministry has prepared various strategies to implement in response to new US foreign policy.
"So, we have imagined the different scenarios and how we would respond to each," Retno said.
