Exactly one year before the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and South Sumatra's Palembang, a countdown was held by the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee at the National Monument in Central Jakarta on Friday (18/08).

The event started at 7 p.m., with the audience looking forward to the performance of a famous South Korean girlsband, SNSD (Girls' Generation).

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo started the countdown by shooting an arrow. In attendance were also Vice President Jusuf Kalla, ministers and diplomats.

This will be the second time for Jakarta to host the sporting event, after the 1962 Asian Games.
