New Fragrances Smell Like Rossa's Spirit
Jakarta. Rossa is one of the most popular and most multi-tasking Indonesian artists these days. She is not only a singer, but also an actress, a model and an ambassador for several beauty brands. The artist is also known for her friendliness, always surrounded by her fans wherever she goes.
Now Rossa's fans can have more of their idol than just selfies and autographs — they can smell just like her as well.
Rossa launched her own fragrance line on Wednesday (16/11) in Cacaote, South Jakarta.
"These perfumes already had a soft-launch in August. To my surprise, the first batch, about 15,000 bottles, is now almost sold out. We're producing the second batch," she said.
The line currently offers three different perfumes: "My Love," "My Life" and "My Music," named after Rossa's 2014 bestselling album "Love, Life and Music."
"'My Love' represents my romantic side. It is the perfume I usually wear when I'm writing a new song. The fragrance awakens my imagination," Rossa said.
The softly sweet scent of the perfume comes from notes of lily, sandalwood, musk, strawberry and caramel.
"My Life," on the other hand, bursts with refreshing notes of orange, lemon and peach along with a faint rose and jasmine in the background.
"It represents my more glamourous side. I usually wear it before I perform on stage," the singer said.
"My Music," is a combination of geranium, lemon blossom, melon, raspberry and blackcurrant. It is a gentle and uplifting scent.
"It's currently our bestseller," Rossa said.
It took almost a year for Rossa to perfect the fragrances.
"I collaborated with a company from Semarang. They sent me dozens of essential oils to smell and mix. It took me almost a year to find the right combinations," she said.
The singer said the essential oils used in her fragrances are imported from France, but the perfumes are mixed in Indonesia.
Rossa's fragrances are housed in diamond-shaped bottles and glossy carton boxes. The singer partners with Matahari Department Store to distribute them.
"Our target market is the same — people who desire affordable luxury. Quality doesn't always have to be expensive," she added.
The fragrances, moderately priced at Rp 349,800 ($26), are now available at the Matahari Department Store in Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang.
Soon they will also be available at 19 other Matahari Department Stores in Java and Bali.
"They're guaranteed best sellers. These fragrances are a pleasant combination of floral and fruity scents, which are welcome in the tropics," Titien Indriana Widodo, general manager of Matahari's cosmetics department, said.
Rossa also plans to release a lightly perfumed body mist line next year.
