Police Increase Security in Puncak, Manage Traffic
Bogor. Police have deployed 200 personnel to the hilly resort area of Puncak, where traffic is expected to peak during the long weekend, and implemented a one-way system to ease congestion.
Puncak, just a two-hour drive from the capital, is a favorite holiday destination for many Jakartans.
Thousands of vehicles on Friday (25/03) morning started heading to Bogor, West Java, with their destinations including Puncak. Police have since implemented a one-way system from Gadog to Puncak.
"The system is tentative. It will be applied for two hours, but it also depends on the situation in the field," Bramastyo Priadji, traffic unit head of the Bogor Police, said on Friday.
To manage traffic, police have deployed 200 officers to a number of spots usually causing congestion, including Simpang Gadog, Tanjakan Selarong, Simpang Megamendung and Pasar Cisarua.
Puncak is predicted to rain at noon, and police called on residents heading to area to remain vigilant amid concerns over several spots prone to landslides.
