Police Search House Belonging to Kampung Melayu Suicide Bomber
Jakarta. West Java Police and Densus 88 — the National Police's counter-terror unit — on Thursday (25/05) searched a house belonging to the suspected suicide bomber who blew himself up in the Kampung Melayu attack on Wednesday evening. The house was located in Cibangkong, a neighborhood near the Batununggal subdistrict in Bandung.
"This morning Densus 88 and the West Java Police searched a rented house belonging to INS [the suspect's initials]. He is one of the suspected suicide bombers in the Kampung Melayu attack," West Java Police spokesman Chief Comr. Yusri Yunus said, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
He said the search was conducted between 7.30 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. local time.
The police has apprehended INS' wife and two of his children, who are living in the same house, to give a statement.
According to local residents, INS had lived in the house for about five years, and that they had never expected him to be involved in terrorist acts.
News outlet Detik.com reported the police had confiscated bayonets, military equipment, official documents including passports and a marriage license and books on religion during the raid.
