KLa Project, White Shoes to Headline Bali's Jazz Market by the Sea
Jakarta. Jazz Market by the Sea, an annual jazz and arts festival in Bali, will return for its sixth year at Taman Bhagawan, Tanjung Benoa, on August 19 to 21.
Unlike other music festivals, Jazz Market solely highlights Indonesian musicians. KLa Project, a local band famous in the 1990s that is now experimenting with indie sounds, will headline the event along with pianist Erik Sondhy, the group White Shoes & The Couples Company and DDHEAR, a collaborative act between Dialog Dini Hari and Endah N Rhesa.
Other exciting acts like chanteuse Lisa Soul and the group Gypsy Jazz are also slated to perform during the weekend.
Befitting its name, Jazz Market will also feature 71 market stalls selling delicacies as well as locally made arts and crafts products.
"This year, we want to bring the Jazz Market-goers to experience what is beyond our Indonesian heritage and culture through textiles and fabrics," the festival co-founder, Jappy Sanger, said in a statement. "All of this will be collaborated with Indonesian music culture and jazz."
A three-day pass to the festival is currently on-sale online at Rp 250,000 ($19).
