Nike Teams Up With Designer Riccardo Tisci for Second Sneakers Collaboration
Jakarta. Following the success of their first collaboration with Riccardo Tisci in 2014, Nike once again teams up with the Italian designer for a new take on the brand's signature sneakers style.
This time Tisci, who is also the creative director of luxury fashion house Givenchy, reimagines the Nike Dunk Lux High sneakers with oversize boot silhouette and enlarged "swoosh" — the iconic logo of the athletic footwear brand.
The sporty shoes feature innovative Lunarlon sole and leather upper, making them not only comfortable to wear but also fashionable.
Speaking to Vogue.com, the designer said that he liked collaborating with Nike "because it takes me to another place, which is different from my reality every day."
"Nike is an American company and very well perceived. The opportunity makes a big statement. I think it's a dream of any designer's to be in everybody's home," he added.
His decision to redesign the Dunk style is based on his personal experience as a boy who would play basketball in the sneakers.
"The first pair of Dunks I had were white and red," the designer said, as quoted by Vogue.com. “I’ve been representing the brand for 25 years. I believe in the roots of the company, and always have.”
Tisci's Nike sneakers retail at $300 and will be released first at NikeLab retailers across North America on Feb. 11.
