Jakarta. Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Bangkok are first on the bucket lists of Indonesian travelers in 2017, according to short-term rental company Airbnb.
Meanwhile, Denpasar, Bandung, Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Ubud are the top domestic destinations for Indonesian tourists last year.
"Indonesians aren’t just keen to explore the countries around them; last year, domestic travel also surged in popularity as Indonesians realized there’s plenty to do right on their doorstep," Airbnb said in a statement.
"Given that Bali was named the world’s best tourist destination in 2017, it is unsurprising that travelers are looking to explore the different neighborhoods of the island to get the best out of their trip," Airbnb said.
The top trending neighborhoods in Bali according to Airbnb are Seminyak, Canggu, North Kuta, Sanur and South Kuta or Bukit Peninsula.
According to the company's data, there were 904,600 Airbnb guest arrivals in Indonesia last year, 69 percent more than in 2016.
"Indonesia’s popularity with domestic and international travelers has no sign of slowing down," Airbnb said.
"People from all over the world have been flocking to Indonesia this year, with the largest proportion of inbound international guests in 2017 coming from Australia, the US, Singapore, Germany and Great Britain," the company said.
