Jakarta Coffee Week is Brewing for October Event
Jakarta. The upcoming Jakarta Coffee Week will take place at Pantai Indah Kapuk in North Jakarta on Oct. 15-16.
The ABCD School of Coffee and culinary trendsetter Hype are collaborating to organize the Jakarta Coffee Week, or Jacoweek 2016, this year.
The event will see around 90 bean and equipment producers and distributors displaying their wares in one of Jakarta's most prestigious neighborhoods.
Visitors will be invited to special coffee cupping sessions to get a whiff and a taste many different aromas of coffee from around the world.
"We'll have coffee and chocolate beans from many different origins at Jacoweek 2016," Yudistira Bawana of the ABCD School of Coffee said.
For a low entrance fee of only Rp 10,000 (less than a dollar), Jacoweek 2016 will treat coffee enthusiasts to a variety of products and attractions.
"We hope Jacoweek will help coffee enthusiasts further develop the coffee industry in Indonesia," co-founder and chief trainer of ABCD School of Coffee Hendri Kurniawan said, as quoted by Detik.com.
Indonesian coffee has already gained popularity on the international market and continues to thrive as artisanal coffee rises in global popularity. Jacoweek organizers are expecting 6000-8000 visitors at the event, which should provide plenty of encouragement to local coffee businesses.
"There will booths displaying interior design ideas for coffee shops, visitors will get to meet suppliers of coffee machines and roasters, and they will also be introduced to our network of baristas," ABCD School of Coffee co-founder Ve Handojo said, as quoted by Vivanews.
Jacoweek 2016 will also feature two coffee competitions, the ABCD Latte Art Showdown and Battle of Brewers V60. The latte art competition will pit around 60 Indonesian latte artists against each other, while the manual brewing competition will test the skills of 90 brewers using the Hario V60 brewing kit.
"We're glad we can participate in this event for coffee lovers. Hopefully we can establish new partnerships among roasters, baristas and coffee shop owners," Hype chief executive Willy Kurniawan said, as quoted by Jawapos.
