Jakarta. Ismaya Group opened its fifth branch of The People's Cafe and Djournal Coffee at the World Trade Center in Central Jakarta on Jan.23.

"People in the area need a nice, comfortable place nearby to have a quick meal or just to hang out with friends after work, offering good food and beverages at affordable prices" Sarah Merci, brand manager of Ismaya Group.

"We've combined both outlets together as their menus complement one another. The People's Cafe food is suitable for office workers and Djournal's beverage would accompany the food," she said.

The 110-square-meter outlet, located on the front corner of the building. Colorful bamboo screens, painted with slogans and natural sunlight flood the restaurant offering a comfortable space away from the offices.

"The restaurant is much brighter than our other outlets allowing our patrons to work comfortably while dining here," Sarah said, adding that many patrons chose to bring their laptops and work there.

The People's Cafe offers street food from many parts of the world. Their specialities include mie nyonya bun from Bangka Belitung, sweet and sour chicken wings from South Korea and quintessentially British fish and chips.

"Our menus are revamped twice a year," Sarah said.

A new addition to the menu is mie ireng dori, served on a small stainless steel wok. The noodles are black and sticky and crowned with hefty chunks of John Dory fillet and pungent red chilli sauce coats the fillet. The shrimp paste chilli sauce covers the fillet, adding a unique combination of spicy and savory flavors to the dish.

The restaurant also serves light bites such as Roti Bakar Telur Kornet, a toasted bread served with eggs, cheese and corned beef, Nachos with chilli con carne and enoki mushrooms and a fried tofu basket, to name a few.

Djournal serves premium coffees from many parts of Indonesia, as well as teas and chocolate drinks.

"As a local coffee house, we pride ourselves on offering a rich variety of local coffees, which are of the same quality as the imported ones," Sarah said.

The outlet is open on Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is closed on Sunday.

The restaurant plans to host coffee-making classes, catering and meeting packages to offices within the complex in the near future.
