Jakarta. Some of the star players in the European football league have taken the opportunity at the end of the season to relax in Indonesia.
Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij traveled to Gili Trawangan Island in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, while Torino forward Adem Ljajić and his partner, Sofija Milošević, are enjoying Bali's beautiful scenery.
De Vrij posted photos of a cruise around the island with friends on his social media accounts. He also met with local Lazio supporters, known as Laziale Indonesia, happily signing autographs and taking photo requests from fans.
Meanwhile, Ljajić and Milošević were seen exploring popular tourist attractions in Bali, such as Ubud, Uluwatu, Nusa Lembongan and the local zoo.
Milosevic posted a picture of Ubud with the words "Magical Bali" on her Instagram account on Friday (16/06).
De Vrij and Ljajić are part of a long list of football celebrities who have spent time in Indonesia.
In 2007, England star David Beckham was spotted in Bali, and he reportedly also visited Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java.
Dutch legend Edwin van der Sar also vacationed in Bali in 2008, with a photo of him riding an elephant that went viral on the internet.
Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was seen enjoying Bali's beauty in 2013, but he was not only taking a vacation at the time. The footballer planted mangrove trees with former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono after his appointment as ambassador of the Bali Mangrove Care Forum.
German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also joined the list of world-class footballers who have spent time in Bali when he visited the island with his girlfriend at the time, after winning the 2014 World Cup.
Another goalkeeper, David de Gea of Manchester United, visited Bali in 2015, with a photo of him at Denpasar's Ngurah Rai International Airport going viral at the time.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya says he is pleased to see the world-class footballers visiting Bali and West Nusa Tenggara, because the exposure helps to turn these areas into global tourism destinations.
