Persipura Coach Liestiadi Resigns
Jakarta. Persipura Jayapura head coach Liestiadi has resigned, the club's chairman, Benhur Tomi Mano, told reporters on Thursday (08/06).
"Last night I asked our media officer to talk to the coach regarding the evaluation and condition of the team, and in the conversation the media officer reported that Mr. Liestiadi accepted responsibility and resigned as coach of Persipura Jayapura due to unsatisfactory results in the last two matches," Benhur said.
He wished Liestiadi a successful career and raised the possibility that the coach may return someday.
"On this decision, I will ask the manager to find a new coach. At the moment, the team will be handled by assistant coaches Mettu Dwaramury and Alan Haviludin," he said.
"I ask all players to maintain cohesion and kinship within the team. We all have the same desire to overcome these negative feelings and get back on track," he said in closing.
Persipura lost 0-2 against Madura United and 5-1 against PSM Makassar. The Black Pearls are now in fifth place on the Liga 1 table, after five wins, one draw and four losses.
