Asean Foreign Ministers to Discuss Regional Issues
Jakarta. Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi on Monday (20/02) left for Boracay, the Philippines, to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations's foreign ministers meeting to discuss this year's priority issues.
The meeting is themed "Partnering for Change, Engaging the World."
As the Philippines holds the association's chairmanship in 2017, it has laid down six priority issues for Asean, namely peace and stability in the region, maritime security and cooperation, as well as inclusive, innovation-led growth.
"Indonesia supports the Philippines as the Asean's chairman and the priorities it has proposed for 2017. The meeting is not only an opportunity for the Asean ministers to discuss the priorities, but also to set the pace for the association's work," Retno said in a statement.
Indonesia is going to stress the importance of delivering tangible results to Asean citizens by increasing the region's unity amid global challenges.
Indonesia will focus on the maritime security, increased economic cooperation and protection of Asean migrant workers.
