French Companies to Showcase Clean Technology During Jakarta Conference
Jakarta. Ten French companies and industry associations are set to showcase advanced clean technologies during the sixth New and Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition in Jakarta this week.
The event, hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI), will be held in conjunction with the 2017 Bali Clean Energy Forum (BCEF). It aims to attract 5,000 visitors, including policy makers, researchers, civil society representatives and students.
"This initiative illustrates the successful cooperation that Indonesia and France have been maintaining for several years in the area of energy," the French Embassy said in a statement on Monday (11/09).
Indonesia and France held a joint working group meeting in Paris in June last year, where delegations of the two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in the renewable energy sector. This cooperation has resulted in the launch of the French Renewable Energy Group for Indonesia (Fregi) and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between METI and the French Renewable Energy Association (SER) in February this year.
The group seeks to assist Indonesia's development efforts "meant to accelerate the energy transition to meet the country's Paris Climate Agreement objectives and to bring universal access to electricity all across the archipelago."
The three-day event, which kicks off on Wednesday, will feature a French pavilion, where eight companies and two industry associations – all members of Fregi – will present their latest clean technologies.
