BNI Goes Full Swing With Indonesian Masters 2016
Jakarta. State-owned bank, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), will be the main sponsor of the golf tournament BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich which will be held at Royale Jakarta Golf Club, Jakarta, from Oct. 6 to 9.
The series will feature 150 international golfers, including 20 professional golfers from PGA Tour of Indonesia and Indonesia’s top four amateur golfers.
“Indonesia is an interesting venue for golf and BNI is honored to be part of the growth of the sport in our home. This partnership is a form of our commitment to the game, and we hope to strengthen our brand as a fellow for golf enthusiasts in Indonesia and the world,” BNI president director Achmad Baiquni said on Wednesday (03/08) in Jakarta.
With the international attention, Achmad also hopes that the tournament will help generate tourism.
Royale Jakarta Golf Club's chief operating officer George Chandra claims that the venue boasts the best golf course in Jakarta, as he shared his enthusiasm for the tournament in October.
Meanwhile, PGA Tour of Indonesia chairman Johannes Dermawan also expressed his enthusiasm for the sixth BNI Indonesian Masters and welcomed the bank’s partnership.
“We are honored to have BNI on board, as I’m sure they will play an important role in the development of the sport in our country’s future,” Johannes said.
The tournament has previously invited established golfers from around Asia, such as Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Thongchai Jaidee. Established golfers from Indonesia such as George Gandranata, Rory Hie, Jordan Irawan, Andik Mauludin and Tito Tamardi have also played in the tournament.
When asked about inviting other renowned international golfers, Indonesian Masters co-founder and Asian Tour chairman Jimmy Masrin said he would be more than happy to.
“Someone previously asked me about inviting Tiger Woods – easy, we just need the money. If we had unlimited funding, I would invite Rickie Fowler, because I am a fan of him myself,” Jimmy said.
BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich 2016 will be broadcasted live in all Asian Tour TV platforms, available for viewing in more than 180 countries.
