Jakarta. South Jakarta Police have prepared more than 1,700 officers to secure the first official gubernatorial debate at Bidakara Hotel in the capital's Tebet area on Friday (13/01).

"The law enforcement officials are ready," South Jakarta Police spokesman Comr. Purwanta said.

Members of the police will be stationed in four rings at the location and on the surrounding streets. Supporters of each candidate pair will be expected to gather only at designated locations.

"Ring one is the venue, ring two is its sides, ring three covers the entrance and exit, and ring four the streets. Each candidate can bring 100 people [to the debate room]. Other supporters have to gather at designated locations," he said.

He added that most likely no detours will have to be applied to handle the traffic.

Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. M. Iriawan said in a statement that the law enforcers deployed will derive from both the police and military forces.
