Police Question Ahok Over Jakarta Bay Reclamation
Jakarta. Former Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama was questioned by the Jakarta Police in a graft investigation into the Jakarta Bay reclamation project, an official said on Monday (26/02).
Ahok was questioned in early February at the National Police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob) detention center in Depok, West Java, the head of the Jakarta Police's special crimes unit, chief Comr. Adi Deriyan, said as reported by state-run news agency Antara.
Adi said investigators wanted to find out more about maladministration that marred the reclamation project.
The police also questioned Jakarta Transportation Agency chief Andri Yansyah and Spatial Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil about the project's certification and its reportedly adverse effects on the environment.
Adi told reporters that Ahok's former deputy, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, will also be summoned.
Djarot is running in this year's gubernatorial race in North Sumatra.
"We have not questioned Djarot yet, he is still busy with the regional elections," Adi said.
