Jakarta. Incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama said on Wednesday (11/01) he has made no special preparation for the first official gubernatorial debate this weekend, hosted by the Jakarta Electoral Commission.
"We've rehearsed, we did some mock debates," Ahok said at his campaign headquarters Rumah Lembang in Central Jakarta.
Ahok and running mate Djarot Saiful Hidayat have attended two unofficial debates against rivals Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno hosted by local TV stations Kompas TV and NET TV.
However, the other pair of candidates, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Sylviana Murni, refused to attend both events citing a lack of endorsement from the Jakarta Electoral Commission, or KPUD.
"I don’t know [what topic will come up most often in the debate]," Ahok said.
The two-hour debate, scheduled for Friday, will reportedly focus on bureaucratic reform, good governance, government innovation, justice reform and fighting corruption and extortion.
The KPUD has scheduled two more debates on Jan. 27 and Feb. 10. All candidates are obliged to participate in all three debates.
The first debate will air on BeritaSatu TV, NET TV, TV One and Jawa Pos TV.
