Nothing Left in 2017 Jakarta Budget for Governor-Elect Anies
Jakarta. Acting Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said the 2017 regional budget for the capital has already been allocated and that governor-elect Anies Baswedan should submit proposals for the 2018 budget as soon as possible.
Djarot said Anies Baswedan and his deputy Sandiaga Uno can no longer propose programs for the the 2017 budget since it has already been completed.
The acting governor will invite representatives from the Home Affairs Ministry and the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) next week to a meeting to discuss the 2018 budget.
"Next week we will invite the DPRD chairman, representatives of each DPRD faction and a representative of the Home Affairs Ministry to discuss proposals for the 2018 budget," Djarot said on Wednesday (17/05).
Djarot said he will continue with Jakarta's widely praised e-budgeting policies — which he devised with non-active Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, currently serving a two-year sentence for blasphemy — until the end of his term in October.
"The 2017 regional budget is still our responsibility," Djarot said.
