Drug Trafficker Killed, BNN Seized 32 Kilograms of Crystal Meth
Jakarta. An alleged trafficker was killed in Medan, North Sumatra, on Sunday (19/02) in an operation by the National Narcotics Agency, or BNN, to seize drugs smuggled from Malaysia.
The Malaysian police have informed the BNN that the smuggling attempt would take place, as the narcotics had been sent by sea to Aceh.
BNN and customs officers deployed to investigate the case found a black pickup truck, suspected of carrying the freight from Aceh to Medan.
On a traffic stop in Medan's Pondok Kelapa area, some of the load was handed to a motorcyclist.
The truck accelerated when its driver found out he had been followed. After three warnings, shots were fired toward the car to stop it.
The truck then crashed into a tree and the driver died on the spot. Police found two black bags containing 26 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride (crystal meth) wrapped in yellow plastic.
Later, at a boarding house in the city, the officers arrested the motorcyclist with six kilograms of the drug.
