Six Arrested in Surabaya for Role in 'Malaysia-Linked' Drug Ring
Surabaya, East Java. The Surabaya Police on Thursday arrested six men for their alleged involvement in a drug ring possibly linked to a Malaysia dealer, saying that some of them made billions of rupiah (hundreds of thousands of dollars). The six were identified as Hendra (23), Indra (24), Reza (24), Ronald (26), Susanto (41) and Iqbal (27). “We have confiscated 1.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 282 ecstasy pills, and 380 pills of [a drug called] Happy Five, also known as H5, and an electronic weighing scale,” Adj. Sr. Comr. Bambang Tjahyo Buwono, the head of the Surabaya Police's narcotics division, said on Friday. The police first apprehended Susanto and Iqbal at a hotel in the city, where they discovered 6.2 grams of meth, 20 ecstasy pills and 110 H5 pills. After that first raid, police got the names of the remaining four men. “They said that they got the meth from a dealer in Malaysia," Bambang said. "We are still working on the case ... as we believe there still are more members of the drug ring who remain at large." The six could face the death penalty.
