Jakarta. A teenager was arrested on Monday (11/09) for allegedly disposing of her newborn daughter in a swamp near a village in Bogor district, West Java, police said.
Bogor District Police criminal unit chief Adj. Comr. Aulia Djabar said the perpetrator is a 15-year-old high school student, only identified by the initials H.B., while her boyfriend, R.R., was the supposed instigator. Police are currently looking for him.
Aulia added that H.B. admitted to giving birth to the child and subsequently abandoning her.
"After being interrogated, H.B. admitted that it was her who had given birth and that the baby was abandoned. The baby was conceived from an intimate relationship with R.R.," Aulia said on Tuesday.
"The baby is still alive and healthy. Local residents have entrusted the infant to a midwife in the village," Aulia added.
A passerby reportedly found the baby in a bush near a bamboo forest at around 10 p.m. on Thursday night last week. The unnamed child is in good health, weighing 2.8 kilograms, with a height of 48 centimeters.
