ONE Championship to Showcase 10 'Total Victory' Bouts in Jakarta
Jakarta. ONE Championship, a Singapore-based mixed martial arts promotion, is set to return to Jakarta on Sept. 16 in its next series dubbed "Total Victory," with 10 bouts, the organization said in a statement on Friday (08/09).
The main bout, at the Jakarta Convention Center, will see ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat Akhmetov of Kazakhstan taking on Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio of the Philippines.
The 29-year-old Akhmetov has a solid 23-1 professional record obtained during his martial arts career, which has seen him dominate his opponents with tenacious wrestling and powerful striking. He will try to overcome Geje who is one of the most skilled martial artists in Asia, and a highly-decorated wushu practitioner.
Geje's solid striking and grappling skill set has led to huge victories over the course of his six-year professional martial arts career. Training at high altitudes, Eustaquio hones his craft alongside world-class teammates from the fabled Team Lakay. In his most recent bout, Eustaquio defeated fellow striker Anatpong Bunrad via split decision in a rematch.
The opening bout will see two promising young bantamweight prospects: Indonesian striker Riski Umar will take on compatriot Adi Nugroho in a three-round contest. Riski is set to make his professional debut in his first ONE Championship stint, while Adi is determined to have his his second appearance.
Another anticipated bout is Indonesian hot prospect Stefer Rahardian, who won the flyweight class in his debut last year, versus Sim Bunsrun, a 24-year-old Cambodian fighter.
Other bouts include Liberian Jerome S. Paye versus Yodsanan "Little Tyson" Sityodtong of Thailand, Adrian Matheis of Indonesia versus Cambodian Soda Phat, Mongolian wrestler Liu De Li Ge Ri Hu versus Ramon "The Bicolano" Gonzales of the Philippines, Indonesian Jeremy "The Predator" Meciaz versus Hisyam "Zephyrus" Samsudin of Malaysia, Indonesia's "The Terminator" Sunoto versus Thai Rithy of Cambodia, and Cameroonian Alain "The Panther" Ngalani versus Japan's heavyweight Hideki "Shrek" Sekine.
