Adaptation of Best-Selling Novel 'Sabtu Bersama Bapak' to Hit Theaters in July
Jakarta. Abimana Aryasatya, Ira Wibowo and Arifin Putra star in the latest holiday release "Sabtu Bersama Bapak" ("Saturdays With Dad") by director Monty Tiwa, which will open in theaters nationwide on July 5.
In the movie, Abimana plays Gunawan Gardina, who leaves video messages for his sons Satya (Arifin) and Cakra (Deva Mahenra). The story follows Satya and Cakra as they grow up.
Arifin said co-star Acha Septriasa, who plays his wife in the movie, demanded them to stay in character for the duration of the filming.
"Acha was always all out. She had said from the beginning that during filming, I was her husband and she was my wife," Arifin said, as quoted by Antara. "We call each other by our character's name the entire time,"
The movie is an adaptation of a best-selling novel of the same title by Adhitya Mulya, who also writes "Jomblo: Sebuah Komedi Cinta" ("Single: A Love Comedy"). For the author, the "Saturday" novel depicts his next phase of life.
"Ten years ago, all I worried about was how to get a girlfriend, that's why I came up with 'Jomblo'. Now I am on a different stage of life," Adhitya said.
