Singapore. Indonesian pop singer Afgansyah Reza, better known by his nickname Afgan, wowed the crowd at the Asian Television Awards, or ATA, on Thursday and Friday (01/12) at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Center.

Afgan performed English-language songs "Knock Me Out" and "Brand New Day" at Thursday's trade gala event.

On Friday’s live ceremony, Afgan sang his latest single "X" in front of a crowd of 3,500 people, who gave a standing ovation.

All of the songs Afgan performed come from his newest album, "Sides," released in August last year.

"This event was broadcasted all over Asia, so it was the perfect opportunity to promote my new songs," he told reporters on Friday.

Afgan's show was his first performance at the awards. He said that he was offered to sing by one of the show's producers.

"Perhaps the reason I was offered to perform here was because, all thanks to God, I have quite strong fanbases outside Indonesia, especially in Malaysia and Singapore."

Afgan felt honored for the opportunity not only because of the event’s scale but also because it connected him to other international stars who shared the stage with him, such as Australian electronic artist GG Magree, Korean singer and actor Kim Jong Kook and Vietnamese boyband The Air.

The 28-year-old is not new to playing gigs abroad, previously performing in the city-state three times prior.

His foray to the overseas market began in 2014 when he sang at the Asia Song Festival in Busan, South Korea.

However he said that he still needed to penetrate the Southeast Asian market. Afgan is looking forward to explore the market in Thailand and the Philippines.

Ten Years in Music

Afgan revealed his plan to host three concerts next year to celebrate a decade of his career in music.

A Jakarta concert is slated for March at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan. The singer is set to collaborate with composer Erwin Gutawa and creative director Taba Sanchabakhtiar.

He said the concert is expected to show how he’s maturing as a singer.

It will be followed by concerts in Malaysia and Singapore, though those dates have not yet been confirmed.
