Jakarta. Inspired by world-class music festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury, independent record label Demajors and event organizer Dyandra Promosindo will present multi-genre music festival Synchronize Fest at the Gambir Expo in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Oct. 28-30.

Most music festivals in Indonesia feature just one specific music genre, usually jazz, rock or R&B. Synchronize Fest will break new ground by mixing up rock, pop, reggae and even the much-maligned dangdut.

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (23/8), the festival's program director, Kiki Ucup, said one of the festival's goals is to do something that has never been done before. Kiki said apart from featuring all genres of music, Synchronize Fest also wants to challenge the tendency to feature international acts instead of local ones.

"Synchronize Fest will feature musicians from all genres, as well as artists from all eras. What sets us apart from other music festivals is that we want to offer a real platform for local talents," he said.

To emphasize their passion for all things local, this year’s Synchronize Fest will not feature any international act. Tulus, Payung Teduh, Monkey Boots, Scaller, Danilla, Begundal Lowokwaru and Teenage Death Stars are among a slew of high-profile local artists confirmed to perform at the festival.

Festival goers can expect at least 100 local artists during the three-day music festival. More details of the lineup will be announced soon on the festival's social media accounts. 

Director of Dyandra,  Muhammad Riza, said Synchronize Fest also wants to highlight the potentials of community-based content. This is why the festival dubs itself as a "collective festival" and will not only feature local music acts, but also other local content including film, fashion and art.

According to Riza, Synchronize Festival will even feature dangdut artists, often considered bottom-dwellers in the Indonesian music scene and a rare attraction in prestigious Indonesian music festivals.

 "Yes, Synchronize Fest will feature cutting-edge dangdut artists," Riza said. 

The festival will have five different stages, including the #GIGSTAGE, an small indoor stage to take the audience back to intimate club gigs.

Early bird tickets for Synchronize Fest are available at Rp 365,000 for the entire three-day festival. Regular daily tickets are available at Rp 200,000 each. Tickets are available now from all the usual outlets, including RajaKarcis.com, Kiostix.com and Dyandratiket.com.
