Gorontalo. National Narcotics Agency, or BNNP, officers in Gorontalo, the capital of a province of the same name on the island of Sulawesi, arrested the wife of the city's mayor Charles Budi Doku in a drug bust on Tuesday (02/01), police said.
Brig. Gen. Oneng Subroto, the head of the Gorontalo BNNP, said the arrest was made at a house in the city late on Tuesday night after a tip-off from neighbors.
The BNNP officers arrested two women at the house, known by their initials SD and LM, and packets of shabu-shabu, or crystal methamphetamine, Oneng told Antara news agency on Wednesday.
SD is the initial of the Gorontalo mayor's wife.
Investigators had not had a chance to interrogate SD and LM until Wednesday night because they were in shock and needed medical assistance, Oneng said.
The packets of what are thought to be crystal methamphetamine seized at the house are currently being tested by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).
If the results came back positive, SD and LM will be declared suspects in the case, Oneng said.
