Bali Travel Fair Expected to Be Biggest in Asia in Coming Years
Jakarta. The government expects the annual Bali and Beyond Travel Fair, or BBTF, to eventually become Asia's largest travel exhibition as hundreds of participants from Indonesia and beyond took part in this year's event on June 7-11.
The 4th BBTF gathered 230 buyers from 55 countries and 179 sellers from across Indonesia at the Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali this week.
A seller from South Korea also took part in the event. The government expects more sellers from overseas at next year's event, eventually turning the BBTF into an international travel fair.
"The target is to stage the biggest travel fair in Asia," Tourism Ministry official Gde Pitana said in Nusa Dua on Thursday (08/06).
This year's event is aimed at making Rp 6.9 trillion ($519 million) of business-to-business transactions. The BBTF is expected to help achieve the government's target of drawing up to 20 million foreign tourists to destinations across the archipelago by 2019.
