Banten Travel Mart to Attract More Tourists to Tanjung Lesung
Jakarta. The inaugural Banten Travel Mart from Wednesday (19/04) to Friday scored a success, as the Ministry of Tourism seeks to attract more travelers to the province's Tanjung Lesung.
"We must continue developing this event, especially seeing such a positive response. Banten's travel potential has been branded well, and we've recorded 170 buyers and 30 sellers participating in this event, this is good,"Esthy Reko Astuti, the Ministry’s deputy for tourism development, said in a statement
The buyers included not only Indonesians, but also visitors from Malaysia, China, Singapore and Mongolia.
According to Esthy, Banten Travel Mart is part of the ministry's strategy to promote Tanjung Lesung as one of the government's priority destinations.
"We will help to promote Banten's tourism, because everyone must participate, from the executive to the legislative level, to increase interaction between buyers and sellers so that we can also promoting Tanjung Lesung abroad," Esthy said.
Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) Banten chapter chairman Mukhlis Ikhsor Gatot said Banten Travel Mart is likely to increase the number of visitors to Banten this year.
"There will be cooperation between local and international businesses. This can really boost the role of the tourism industry in increasing Banten's welfare," Mukhlis said.
He added that Banten Travel Mart will be held annually to highlight the province's natural beauty, cultures and religion.
"This will be an annual event. Sellers must work to create attractive tour packages, we have so many destinations to offer," Mukhlis said.
The destinations, the so-called Seven Wonders of Banten, include Ujung Kulon National Park, Sangiang Island, Umang Island and Mount Krakatau.
