Jakarta. Antigraft officers reportedly arrested seven people, including the head of the Batubara district in North Sumatra, for alleged bribery in a sting operation on Wednesday (13/09).

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesman Febri Diansyah declined to name the people arrested but confirmed the operation had taken place.

"It's true there was a sting operation in a district in North Sumatra. We arrested seven people," Febri told reporters in Jakarta.

KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo also confirmed Wednesday's operation, and said details of the bribery case will be officially revealed on Thursday.

It is believed Batubara District Head Arya Zulkarnaen received bribes for several projects being managed by his administration.

Several heads of local government offices and businessmen were allegedly also involved in the bribery case.
